Asante Akyem Central MP Claims Oral is Unconstitutional

Honorable Lawyer Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem Central, has publicly criticized the work of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (ORAL), describing it as unconstitutional. He stated that the office lacks the legal authority to demand the retrieval of looted property, a move he believes oversteps its boundaries and undermines the law. According to Antwi, ORAL’s actions do not align with the Constitution and its role in the country’s legal framework.
In addition to his critique of ORAL, Antwi expressed concerns about what he perceives as the NDC’s ongoing political agenda. He accused the opposition party of using the retrieval of assets and targeting officials from the Nana Addo-led administration as part of a broader political witch-hunt. Antwi emphasized that such actions are not in the best interest of the nation and urged the Mahama-led administration to reconsider its approach. He believes that instead of focusing on attacking political opponents, the focus should be on governance and improving the nation’s wellbeing.
Antwi made these comments during a thanksgiving service and dinner with party supporters, where he thanked them for their unwavering support. The event was a show of gratitude and solidarity, as he recognized the important role that party members have played in advancing the NPP’s vision.
During his speech, Antwi also took the opportunity to rally NPP members for the upcoming 2028 general elections. He urged his party faithfuls to unite and work tirelessly toward regaining power from the NDC in the next election. He pointed out that while the NPP has the potential to win back political control, achieving this goal will require collective effort, hard work, and perseverance. The MP emphasized that success in the 2028 elections will not come easily and called on every member to remain dedicated and focused on the long-term objective of bringing the party back to power.
Antwi’s remarks reflect a deep commitment to the NPP’s political future, stressing that unity and determination are key to overcoming challenges and securing victory in the 2028 elections. His call for party cohesion is a reminder that the political landscape is ever-evolving and that strong leadership and solidarity are necessary for long-term success.
