The 23 National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Organizers in the Central Region have called on former President John Dramani Mahama to take immediate steps to revive all the abandoned projects in the region. These projects, which were initiated under the NDC government, have been left to deteriorate under the current administration.

In a press conference, the Dean of the NDC Constituency Organizers in the Central Region and Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Constituency Organizer, Kojo Mensah, urged President Mahama to ensure that the numerous projects abandoned by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government from 2016 to the present are completed. Among these projects, they highlighted the Komenda Sugar Factory, the Elmina Fishing and Processing Factory, the Anomabo Fisheries College, and the Teacher and Nursing Training College in Ajumako Bisease. These were all critical initiatives started by the NDC during its tenure but have since been left idle under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Kojo Mensah stressed that these projects were initiated to boost the local economy, create jobs, and provide vital infrastructure for the region. However, after the NPP took power in 2016, they were left to rot and have since become overgrown with weeds, effectively wasting the resources and efforts invested in them. The NDC Constituency Organizers argued that reviving these projects would significantly contribute to the economic development of the Central Region and provide much-needed employment opportunities for the youth.

The organizers emphasized that the NPP government’s failure to follow through on these projects has had a detrimental impact on the region. They argued that the initiatives, which were started with the best intentions under the NDC government, have the potential to transform the local economy and provide long-term benefits if completed. They urged President Mahama to prioritize the restoration of these projects to ensure that they fulfill their original purpose.

In addition to their call for the revival of abandoned projects, the NDC Constituency Organizers also expressed their appreciation to President Mahama for recent appointments made in the region. They specifically thanked him for appointing Ekow Panyin Eduamoah as the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Casseal Ato Forson as the Finance Minister, Nana Ama Brawn Klutse as the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Hon. Felix Ofosu Kwakye as his spokesperson. These appointments, according to the organizers, are a positive sign of the NDC’s commitment to the development of the Central Region and its people.

During an interview, Joseph Abekah, the Central Regional Organizer for the NDC, acknowledged the tireless efforts of all NDC Constituency Organizers in the region. He encouraged them to remain focused on their work and to continue mobilizing support for the party. He emphasized the importance of securing the presidency in the upcoming elections and expressed confidence that the NDC would make significant strides toward this goal.

Abekah further assured the Constituency Organizers that the party would address their grievances and challenges. He urged them to be patient as the leadership of the NDC works to resolve these issues and strengthen the party’s position in the region. He also mentioned the NDC’s commitment to gaining more parliamentary seats in the 2028 elections, which he believes will help the party secure a stronger mandate from the people.

The NDC’s Central Region Organizers are determined to ensure that the party continues to grow and gain support in the region. They are committed to advocating for the completion of abandoned projects, improving the livelihoods of the people, and ensuring that the region plays a pivotal role in the future of Ghana’s political landscape. Through these efforts, they hope to position the NDC for success in the coming years and to contribute to the overall progress and development of the Central Region and the country at large.
