Gomoa East NDC Slams Gabriella Tetteh for Criticizing Ekow Payin’s Competence, Demands Apology

Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Gomoa East Constituency, led by their Organizer, Hon. Hassan Hamidu, have condemned recent comments made by Gabriella Tetteh, the Central Regional NDC Communications Officer, regarding the appointment of Hon. Ekow Okyere Payin as the Central Regional Minister-designate. Tetteh had criticized Payin, suggesting that he was not competent enough to hold the position.
The Gomoa East NDC members have expressed strong support for Hon. Ekow Okyere Payin, emphasizing that he is not only credible but also highly qualified for the role. They point out that Payin has been an influential leader in the region, playing a key role in party campaigns and advocating for the youth. They also highlight his leadership experience, having served as a two-term Member of Parliament for Gomoa East and as the Central Regional Vice Chairman of the NDC.
Hon. Payin’s nomination by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has been well received in the Central Region, particularly in Gomoa East, where he earned significant respect as a former MP. His appointment is seen as a positive step for regional development and party unity.
However, Gabriella Tetteh expressed disappointment with the nomination during an appearance on the Pan Africa TV show Alhaji and Alhaji. Tetteh claimed that Payin’s leadership in the region during a period of internal party conflict—when the Central Regional Chairman was suspended—contributed to division within the NDC in the region. She suggested that this made him an unsuitable candidate for the ministerial position.
In response, the Gomoa East NDC members have called on Gabriella Tetteh to issue a public, unqualified apology for her remarks, which they believe were unfounded and divisive. They reaffirm that Hon. Payin’s track record of service and dedication to the NDC and the Central Region makes him a highly capable choice for the role of Regional Minister.
The NDC members also expressed confidence that Payin’s leadership will bring unity to the region and work toward addressing key developmental needs, including infrastructural growth and youth employment. They believe his appointment is a step forward for the region and the party as a whole.
