Asante Kotoko Still in the Hunt for the Title – Coach Ogum

Asante Kotoko’s struggles continued as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Nations FC on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, extending their winless streak to four matches. The defeat followed a previous loss to Accra Lions, leaving the Porcupine Warriors with just one point from their last four games.
This recent slump has seen Kotoko drop to 4th place in the league standings, with 47 points from 28 games.
Despite the setbacks, head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum remains optimistic about the team’s title aspirations. After the defeat to Nations FC, Ogum acknowledged the difficulty of back-to-back losses but emphasized the importance of motivation and resilience within the team.
“Back-to-back defeats are tough, but as a technical staff, we need to keep encouraging the players. We’re sticking with them, and we know what we’re capable of achieving,” Ogum stated. “These players were part of a long unbeaten run, so we have the ability to turn things around. We just need to identify what we can improve to reverse the current situation.”
Ogum was quick to dismiss any suggestions that Kotoko’s title hopes were extinguished. “The league is far from over. We will continue working hard and take it game by game,” he added.
As the team looks to recover from their recent form, Kotoko will hope to get back to winning ways in their upcoming Matchday 29 fixture against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
