Pentecost University celebrated the second phase of its 16th graduation ceremony last Saturday at its main campus in Accra, conferring degrees on 254 students from various academic fields. This ceremony marked the final congregation for the 2024/2025 academic year, following a previous event in December 2024 where over 1,400 students graduated.

Themed “Graduates unleashed to live a life worthy of their calling,” the occasion drew a large crowd, including faculty members, administrative staff, students, and the families of the graduating class. The atmosphere was one of pride, reflection, and renewed purpose as the university sent off another cohort of young professionals into the world.

In his keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor of Pentecost University, Professor Kwabena Agyapong-Kodua, urged graduates to rise above mediocrity and lead lives marked by responsibility and moral uprightness. “Your academic qualifications will open doors, but it is your integrity that will keep them open,” he advised. He encouraged the graduates not to merely blend into the growing population of degree holders in Ghana but to set themselves apart as ethical leaders and effective problem solvers in their respective fields.

Professor Agyapong-Kodua further reminded the graduates of the financial and moral investments made in their education. He acknowledged the support of families, sponsors, and the Church, urging the new alumni to remember their roots and contribute meaningfully to their communities, the Church of Pentecost, and Ghana at large. “Someone believed in your potential and invested in your future. It’s now your turn to give back,” he emphasized.

Highlighting the university’s significant strides in recent years, the Vice-Chancellor shared that Pentecost University had earned top accolades in 2024, including being named Leader in Innovative Education by the African Academia Awards and Africa’s Most Innovative University by Africa Education Support. These recognitions underscore the university’s commitment to pioneering approaches in teaching, learning, and research.

He also detailed Pentecost University’s growing global footprint through strategic collaborations and research initiatives. Notable among these is the university’s involvement in the European Commission’s APED Reset project, which focuses on electric vehicle component manufacturing. Additionally, the institution is participating in the European Union–African Union Mobility grant, aimed at enhancing digital manufacturing education across the continent.

A major infrastructural development announced during the ceremony was the launch of a 3,000-bed hostel construction project across Pentecost University’s campuses. This initiative is set to significantly improve student housing and campus life.

Further demonstrating the institution’s forward-thinking agenda, Professor Agyapong-Kodua unveiled plans for the Pentecost Engineering Village, a tech-focused innovation hub dedicated to training in artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that these advancements align with the university’s goal of producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also technically equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving global job market.

He also introduced several new academic programmes, reflecting the university’s dynamic approach to education. Among them are the world’s first Doctor of Helper Medicine programme and new doctoral programmes in Theology and Mission, Leadership and Governance, and Engineering. At the master’s level, the university has launched an MSc in Intelligent Engineering Systems, and at the undergraduate level, a new Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) has been introduced. This makes Pentecost University one of only three institutions in Africa offering such a multidisciplinary programme.

The ceremony concluded on a hopeful note, with faculty, families, and guests applauding the achievements of the graduates and the university’s continued growth. Pentecost University’s clear message was one of integrity, innovation, and impact—principles it hopes every graduate will carry into the world.
