When it comes to commanding the stage, few Ghanaian artistes match the electrifying energy of Epixode. Known for his dynamic live shows, the Dancehall act consistently leaves audiences buzzing long after the final note fades. For Epixode, the live stage isn’t just a performance space—it’s where true artistry is revealed.

Whether it’s a packed concert or an intimate venue, Epixode’s performances go beyond vocals and beats. He connects with his audience on multiple levels—through heartfelt interaction, expressive movements, and emotional storytelling that amplifies every lyric. According to him, this level of engagement doesn’t happen by accident; it takes dedication, experience, and an intentional investment in live performance skills.

Speaking to Graphic Showbiz on Monday, June 9, Epixode shared that his passion for live music has always been central to his development as an artiste. He stressed that while studio work is important, it’s the stage that truly tests and validates an artiste’s skill.

“Live performance is a different kind of challenge,” he said. “It exposes everything—your voice, your energy, your ability to connect. That’s why I believe it’s essential for artistes to build and refine that part of their craft. It plays a big role in how long you stay relevant.”

Epixode pointed out that many artistes, especially those from the newer generation, often struggle with live performances because their musical journey didn’t begin in environments where live music was prioritised. He considers himself fortunate to have come from a background where live bands and on-stage performances were an integral part of his growth.

“Back then, we didn’t rely solely on studio magic. You had to prove yourself live. That’s where I learned the importance of crowd control, improvisation, and energy,” he noted.

Despite the challenges, he’s optimistic that more artistes are now recognising the value of strong stagecraft. Still, he acknowledges that every musician brings something different to the table.

“Some artistes are amazing in the studio; others write songs that move hearts. Then there are those who shine in front of a crowd,” he said. “Personally, I’ve been blessed to be recognised for my live shows, and I don’t take that for granted.”

Beyond the spotlight and sound systems, Epixode is also committed to making music that resonates on a deeper level. His recent win at the Ghana Music Awards in the Music for Good category reflects this mission. For him, music isn’t just entertainment—it’s a tool for healing, change, and social reflection.

“Winning the Music for Good Award was more than just a personal milestone,” he explained. “It validated my belief that music should inspire and uplift. A lot of people want feel-good songs, which is great, but there’s also a need for songs that speak truth and offer hope.”

This philosophy is evident in his songwriting, particularly in his new single, Millions. The track explores the universal desire for success and fulfillment, wrapped in the vibrant rhythms of Dancehall.

Millions isn’t just about chasing money,” Epixode shared. “It’s about aiming for success in every part of life. That hunger to do better, be better—it’s something we all feel. ‘We pray for millions’ is a line that reflects that drive for greatness.”

As he continues to evolve as an artiste, Epixode remains focused on blending impactful messages with compelling performances. For him, longevity in the music industry depends not only on talent but on the ability to adapt, grow, and leave a lasting impression—especially when the lights are brightest, and the crowd is watching.
