Trump Considers Backing Israeli Offensive on Iran’s Nuclear Infrastructure

As Tehran endures a sixth consecutive day of Israeli bombardments, the situation in the Middle East has grown increasingly volatile, with Iran firing retaliatory missiles, including a Fattah-1 hypersonic missile aimed at Tel Aviv overnight.
In a major development, U.S. President Donald Trump is now seriously considering military involvement, potentially joining Israel’s offensive against Iran. According to U.S. officials, Trump convened a 90-minute high-level national security meeting on Tuesday to discuss possible engagement.
One key target under consideration is Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility, a fortified underground site believed to be central to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. Notably, the U.S. possesses the only known 30,000lb bunker-busting bomb capable of reaching and destroying such deep installations, according to BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner.
However, there is division within Trump’s advisory circle, with some warning that a direct U.S. strike would dramatically escalate the conflict and carry unpredictable global consequences.
Military movements suggest preparations are underway regardless of a final decision. In the past 72 hours, at least 30 U.S. military tanker aircraft—used for refueling long-range bombers and fighter jets—have reportedly been deployed to Europe, signaling a potential positioning for expanded operations.
Meanwhile, Iran has shown no sign of backing down, continuing to launch missile attacks in retaliation. The conflict, already drawing international concern, risks spiraling into a broader regional war if diplomatic efforts fail and additional global powers join the battlefield.
