Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has held a strategic meeting with the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), underscoring a renewed commitment to party unity and the collective pursuit of national development goals.

The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, brought together the highest-ranking officials of the ruling party. The delegation was led by National Chairman Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia and General Secretary Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, alongside other prominent members of the NDC’s leadership.

A statement issued by the Office of the Vice President confirmed that the purpose of the visit was to express solidarity and offer goodwill to Professor Opoku-Agyemang, while also reaffirming the party’s unwavering support for her leadership as Vice President of the Republic.

“The leadership of the party came to extend their goodwill and affirm their steadfast support,” the statement noted. “This reflects the deep and ongoing relationship between the Vice President and the party’s core leadership.”

In her remarks, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed sincere appreciation for the visit and described it as both timely and meaningful. She acknowledged the continuous prayers, support, and encouragement she has received from the party and emphasized how such gestures reinforce her sense of purpose and dedication to public service.

“I am deeply grateful for their continued prayers, solidarity, and encouragement,” she said. “These moments of unity strengthen our resolve and remind us of our shared vision for Ghana’s future.”

Professor Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted what she described as the “family spirit” within the NDC — a sense of loyalty and togetherness that she believes must be preserved, especially during times of political or social pressure.

“We must continue to hold on to the spirit of unity that defines our party,” she urged. “Even when we are faced with challenges, it is this cohesion that will guide us through and keep us grounded in our principles.”

She used the platform to call for continued collaboration within the party structure, stressing that the current political moment requires focus, consistency, and collective commitment to a national transformation agenda spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama.

“As we forge ahead, I call for a renewed collective effort toward the national reset agenda led by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama,” she said. “It is our duty to work together to fulfill our promises and push for the progress of our beloved country.”

The Vice President’s message aligns with the NDC’s broader campaign message of inclusive governance, responsible leadership, and social justice. Her emphasis on strategic planning, teamwork, and party unity comes at a crucial time as Ghana approaches another election cycle, where both leadership effectiveness and party cohesion will be under national scrutiny.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the party’s top brass to align on key priorities, including election readiness, policy implementation, and public engagement strategies. According to insiders, discussions during the closed-door session touched on strengthening grassroots mobilization and reinforcing the party’s presence across all regions.

Observers within the party have described the interaction as symbolic of the deep respect and strong rapport between the NDC’s political leadership and its governmental representatives. It reflects a growing sense of solidarity and shared responsibility for steering Ghana’s development agenda.

As the NDC intensifies its preparations for the 2024 general elections, engagements like this between party executives and government officials are expected to increase, reflecting a strategy of unity and alignment between political objectives and administrative performance.

In closing, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed her commitment to working hand-in-hand with the party to advance Ghana’s democratic and developmental journey. She urged continued focus, dedication, and unity as the NDC seeks to build a stronger, more equitable future for all citizens.
