Asante Kotoko has officially presented the 2024/25 FA Cup trophy to the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Porcupine Warriors secured the championship following a thrilling 2-1 victory over lower-tier side Golden Kick FC on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Kwame Opoku opened the scoring early for Kotoko, but Golden Kick FC equalized before halftime thanks to a spectacular free kick from Bless Ege, leaving the score level at 1-1 going into the break.

The match took a dramatic turn when Kotoko were awarded a late penalty. Opoku calmly converted the spot kick, securing the win for coach Karim Zito’s squad and bringing home their 10th FA Cup title.

After returning to Kumasi on Monday, June 16, the team officially handed over the trophy to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Wednesday, June 18.

Leading the Kotoko delegation was Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), alongside Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir, the club’s technical director.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended the team for their resilient performance and urged them to maintain their high standards as they prepare for upcoming African competitions next season.
