Allegations Against Tourism Minister Rejected as ‘Gravely Misleading’, Says Ministry
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has issued a strong rebuttal to claims circulating on social media that seek to undermine the integrity and professionalism of the sector Minister, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie.
In a statement released by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit, the allegations were described as completely baseless and deliberately misleading. The Ministry characterized the claims as part of a broader attempt to tarnish the reputation of a leader who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to Ghana’s cultural development.
“These accusations, which attempt to portray the Hon. Minister as disrespectful and unprofessional, are entirely without merit,” the statement read. “They are gravely misleading and represent a deliberate distortion of the facts surrounding her character and public service.”
According to the Ministry, Hon. Gomashie has consistently conducted herself with humility, integrity, and a deep sense of national duty. Her contributions to the tourism, arts, and culture sectors, the statement noted, are widely recognized by stakeholders and the general public alike.
“The Minister’s record speaks for itself,” the release stated. “She has approached her responsibilities with openness, mutual respect, and an inclusive spirit—working closely and respectfully with industry professionals, cultural institutions, and members of the public.”
The Ministry linked the origin of the recent accusations to a known social media personality, asserting that the individual’s motivations were rooted in sensationalism and self-interest rather than a commitment to truth or public service. It warned the public to be cautious of such figures, who, it said, thrive on misinformation and thrive at the expense of national unity.
“It is unfortunate that in the age of digital media, individuals can spread falsehoods with ease—seeking attention by attacking the reputations of dedicated public servants,” the Ministry lamented. “We urge the public to remain discerning and not lend credibility to individuals who show a clear disregard for truth and accountability.”
The Ministry emphasized that while such unfounded attacks may generate temporary online attention, they ultimately fail in the face of truth and public trust. It expressed confidence that Ghanaians would continue to support the Ministry’s mission and reject any efforts to derail the sector’s progress through misinformation.
“False claims may make noise, but truth endures,” the statement affirmed. “We are confident that Ghanaians can see through the intentions behind these misleading narratives.”
Further, the Ministry called for an unequivocal apology from those responsible for spreading the allegations. It reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on character defamation and the dissemination of false information.
“We expect an unreserved apology for the lies being circulated about the Hon. Minister and the Ministry at large,” the release stated. “Reputation is not to be toyed with, especially that of a public servant whose only interest is the progress of our nation.”
The statement, signed by Delassie Mabel Awuku, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry, concluded with a renewed pledge to remain transparent, accountable, and open to dialogue with all stakeholders. It made clear, however, that the Ministry would not be distracted by efforts aimed at undermining its work.
“We will continue to pursue our core mission—to preserve, celebrate, and promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and creative potential,” the Ministry assured. “No amount of distraction or division will deter us from this national responsibility.”
