NHIA Backs Ghana’s Golden Arms with Renewed Pledge of Support

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting Ghana’s national armwrestling team, the Golden Arms, in recognition of their consistent excellence and growing contribution to national sports development.
Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, made this assurance during a recent interaction with the team, applauding their remarkable achievements on the continental stage. According to Dr. Bampoe, the Golden Arms have become a powerful symbol of determination and national pride, particularly after their dominant performance at the 2023 African Games.
He noted that the team’s impressive medal haul not only earned the admiration of Ghanaians but also showcased Ghana’s rising status in armwrestling across the continent. “The Golden Arms have proven to be a source of inspiration. Their dedication and accomplishments make them worthy ambassadors of Ghana,” he stated.
Dr. Bampoe emphasized that the NHIA, as part of its broader corporate social responsibility and support for national development, remains firmly aligned with the Ghana Armwrestling Federation’s vision of promoting the sport and positioning it among the top disciplines in the country. He reiterated the Authority’s intention to sustain and possibly expand its support in order to help the Federation reach greater heights.
“Our partnership with the Golden Arms reflects our belief in the power of sports to unite and uplift. Supporting the Ghana Armwrestling Federation aligns with our values of resilience, teamwork, and excellence. We are proud to walk this journey with them,” he said.
Also present at the engagement was Dr. Senanu Djokoto, Deputy Chief Executive of Operations at NHIA, who echoed Dr. Bampoe’s sentiments. Dr. Djokoto commended the leadership of the Federation and the team’s athletes for their discipline and results-driven approach. He highlighted the NHIA’s satisfaction with the evolving partnership and expressed optimism about its future.
He added that the Authority views its support not merely as sponsorship but as an investment in the youth, talent, and potential of Ghana. “We are not just partnering with a team; we are backing a movement. The leadership within the Ghana Armwrestling Federation has been visionary, and the athletes continue to raise the bar,” Dr. Djokoto remarked.
The reaffirmation of support comes at a time when the Golden Arms are preparing for international competitions and aiming to cement their status as a global force in the sport. The Ghana Armwrestling Federation has previously expressed its ambition to make armwrestling a household name in Ghana and to secure a spot in global rankings.
The NHIA’s continued support is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the Federation’s efforts in talent development, grassroots promotion, and international participation.
