AUGUSCO Headmaster Assures of Sufficient Supply of All Food Items
The Headmaster of St. Augustine’s College, a renowned institution based in Cape Coast, Rev. Father Godfred Appiah, has reassured parents and other stakeholders that the school has an adequate and reliable supply of food to cater to all its students. This assurance was provided in response to recent reports suggesting a shortage of food at the school, which Father Appiah has firmly denied in a letter dated November 23, 2024. In his communication, he made it clear that the claims of food shortages are completely unfounded and untrue.
In his letter, Father Appiah highlighted that, contrary to the claims circulating, the school has been receiving consistent deliveries of food from the National Buffer Stock Company. He provided specific dates on which various food items were delivered to the school, ensuring a well-stocked inventory for the institution. “On November 4th, 9th, 13th, 19th, and 21st, the College took delivery of a range of food items, which have been stored in our warehouse,” Father Appiah stated. These deliveries have ensured that the school remains well-prepared to meet the nutritional needs of its students without any disruption. The Headmaster emphasized that this continuous supply over the past weeks means that the school has sufficient food to feed all its students.
Addressing concerns regarding the quality and availability of meals, Father Appiah strongly refuted the notion that students were being inadequately fed. He pointed out that the food supply chain had been properly managed, and the school’s food resources were fully stocked and ready for use. The reports suggesting otherwise were described as false, with the Headmaster making it clear that these claims were misleading and not based on the reality of the school’s situation.
Father Appiah also acknowledged the dedication and resilience of the school’s kitchen staff, especially in light of recent events that had affected the functioning of the institution. He praised the kitchen staff for their commitment during the strike by members of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU), which had impacted the operations of many institutions, including St. Augustine’s College. Despite the challenges posed by the strike, Father Appiah noted that the kitchen staff remained diligent in preparing meals for the students. “Even during the TEWU strike, our kitchen staff continued to work tirelessly, ensuring that our students were still receiving their meals,” he said. This display of dedication underscores the commitment of the school’s staff to ensuring that the students’ well-being remains a priority.
Furthermore, Father Appiah reassured all stakeholders of the school’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
