Abdul Salam’s Appointment Viewed as an Insult to Islamic Principles

The Association of Liberal Muslims-Ghana has called on H.E. John Dramani Mahama to immediately reconsider the appointment of Mohammed Abdul Salam as CEO of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), stating that his position goes against Islamic principles.
In a statement, the Association expressed deep concern over the appointment of their fellow Muslim brother, Mohammed Abdul Salam, as NLA CEO. They argued that such an appointment conflicts with Islamic teachings, which prohibit involvement in gambling and games of chance.
“We, the members of the Association of Liberal Muslims-Ghana, are deeply concerned about the recent appointment of Mohammed Abdul Salam, a fellow Muslim, as the CEO of the National Lottery Authority. This appointment is in conflict with Islamic principles, which prohibit involvement in games of chance and gambling,” the statement read.
The Association respectfully requested that President Mahama reconsider the appointment and reassign Mohammed Abdul Salam to a position that aligns with Islamic values. They emphasized that this action would uphold the core values of Islam and positively represent Muslims in public service.
“We believe that this decision will not only uphold the principles of Islam but also promote a positive image of Muslims in public service,” the statement added.
The Association concluded by requesting a prompt response from the President and expressed their willingness to work together to find a solution that respects Islamic values.
