Amanase Hene Place’s Ban OnSand Winning To Protect Farm Lands And Water Bodies

In his quest to protect food security, chief of Amanase, Osabarima Etuobefom Asarepayin, has placed a ban on sand winning to protect farm lands and water bodies within his jurisdiction as chief.
Sand winning practice is causing serious impacts on productive farmlands in Amanase and its surrounding towns, which is one of Ghana’s food baskets.
Addressing his people at the 3rd edition of the Bomukye Cocoa festival,the traditional leader pointed out that areas once noted for good vegetation have turned into savanna grassland, which have consequences on food production and food security.
Osabarima Etuobefom Asarepayin hinted that the ban is also to preserve water bodies from being polluted by illegal activity of sand winning in the area.
He urged all the good people of Amasaman both home and Abroad to abide by the guidelines to ensure Amanase will be a safe place for its inhabitants.
