The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced a nationwide “Thank You Tour” to be led by its 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The six-week-long tour, themed “In All Things, Give Thanks to God,” is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, and will take the party leadership to all 16 regional capitals across the country.

In a statement released on Monday, April 21, 2025, and signed by the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, the NPP confirmed that Dr. Bawumia will be accompanied by top-ranking national executives and members of the party’s leadership throughout the tour. The initiative has received full approval from the National Council of the party.

The tour is intended as a gesture of gratitude from the NPP and its 2024 campaign team to party supporters, grassroots members, and the general Ghanaian public for their continued support, loyalty, and encouragement throughout the recent election cycle. Despite suffering a defeat in the 2024 general elections—both in the presidential and parliamentary contests—the party is aiming to reconnect with its base and express appreciation to its rank and file.

The NPP lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 7, 2024, elections. The outcome also saw the party’s parliamentary seats drop significantly—from 136 to 88—marking one of its lowest representations in recent years. In the aftermath of the loss, the NPP initiated an internal review process, setting up a committee chaired by former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye. The committee submitted its findings last week. However, party officials have stated that the contents of the report are confidential and will not be made public.

According to the schedule outlined in the statement, the thank-you tour will commence at the party’s national headquarters in Accra and proceed to the Western Region on Saturday, April 26. The journey will continue across all regions and is expected to conclude in the Central Region on June 4, 2025.

The NPP sees this tour as a crucial part of its rebuilding strategy, not only to express gratitude but also to engage directly with members and supporters at the grassroots level. It also provides an opportunity for the party to take stock of sentiments on the ground, reinforce unity, and chart a way forward after the electoral setback.

By embracing the theme “In All Things, Give Thanks to God,” the party is also underscoring its message of hope, resilience, and faith—even in the face of political defeat. The tour marks the NPP’s first major national engagement since the elections and could serve as a foundation for regrouping and repositioning ahead of future political contests.
