Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has dismissed the ongoing social media feud with dancehall artist Shatta Wale, describing it as “irrelevant” and expressing that he is unbothered by any threats from Shatta Wale to end his career. In a recent interview with Nigeria’s City FM on December 6, 2024, Black Sherif addressed the tension between the two, specifically dismissing Shatta Wale’s recent comments about his career, emphasizing that such remarks hold no weight in his world.

“This is the second time I’ve been asked about this, and I believe the attention I should give it is pretty irrelevant. You need to care about something for it to bother you, but for this, I don’t care,” Black Sherif stated during the interview. His words clearly signal that he does not take the rivalry seriously, focusing on his own path rather than engaging in a back-and-forth with Shatta Wale.

Black Sherif also made it clear that he does not view Shatta Wale as a rival, expressing that the two of them occupy different spaces in the music industry and society at large. “Nothing can happen between me and Shatta Wale. It just can’t happen. Given the kind of positions we both hold in society, there’s no room for that kind of bad blood between us,” Black Sherif added. His statement reflects a desire to avoid conflict and indicates that, despite any tensions, he believes both artists are at different stages and should remain respectful of one another.

Adding further clarification, Black Sherif denied the online rumors suggesting that a Snapchat post he made was intended to mock Shatta Wale’s fashion choices. The controversy began after Shatta Wale criticized Black Sherif’s style during a podcast interview on October 31, 2024, calling for him to improve his fashion sense. In response, Black Sherif shared a photo of Shatta Wale on Snapchat with the caption “I plaster everywhere,” which many fans speculated was a subtle jab at the dancehall star’s appearance. However, Black Sherif denied any intention to insult Shatta Wale, explaining that his post was not aimed at him.

“I didn’t post anything on my Snap because of him,” Black Sherif clarified. “Just because someone went on an interview doesn’t mean I shouldn’t post it on my Snap. I didn’t respond to him directly, and whatever is being said online is just fan-driven speculation.” This comment from Black Sherif suggests that his actions were misinterpreted and that he does not feel the need to engage in petty social media disputes.

The tension between the two musicians began after Shatta Wale criticized Black Sherif’s fashion choices in the Bant, Rants, and Confessions podcast. Shatta Wale, known for his outspoken personality, suggested that Black Sherif should pay more attention to his fashion sense and make improvements. In response, Black Sherif, who is known for his more laid-back style, posted a picture of Shatta Wale on Snapchat, which he later clarified was not meant to target Shatta Wale personally but was more of a general post.

Black Sherif’s response to the entire situation has been one of maturity and indifference. He continues to focus on his own career and artistic growth, refusing to be drawn into unnecessary conflicts. His approach reflects a level of professionalism and emotional intelligence, prioritizing his own success over public drama.

The public feud between the two artists highlights a growing tension in the Ghanaian music industry, especially as both Black Sherif and Shatta Wale are influential figures with large fanbases. However, while their fans may fuel the rivalry, Black Sherif remains determined to maintain a positive and constructive approach, rejecting the idea of engaging in negative drama.

As the rivalry between Shatta Wale and Black Sherif continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether the two will find common ground or continue to clash publicly. Regardless, Black Sherif’s refusal to engage in petty conflicts reflects a sense of maturity and a commitment to focusing on his music and career. It also sends a strong message about how artists can navigate tensions without letting them derail their personal or professional growth.
