Chief Urges Council Of State Memmbers To Maintain Political Neutrality

The Chief of Gomoa Kumbe of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, Nana Okoboban kwaw Otanyi II has appealed to the Council of State Members to maintain its political neutrality to enable it to play an active role towards helping His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama execute his resetting agenda.

He said they can use their expertise and personalities to advice ruling government on policies to help make good governance reign. Nana Okoboban kwaw Otanyi II advice in the wake of calls by some section of Ghanaians to abolish the constitution of the council of state members.

President John Dramani Mahama sworn in former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo and 30 other distinguished individuals as members of the Council of State. The ceremony was held at the Jubilee House in Accra on Tuesday February 18, 2025. The members also include former speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho as Chairman of the Council.

Nana Okoboban noted that the ceremony marks a significant moment in Ghana’s governance as these new members are expected to provide valuable advice and support to the President on various national issues and he thus urged the President to be a listening President.

Nana Okoboban urged Ghanaians to cooperate and support President John Dramani Mahama’s government to facilitate the progressive development of the nation.

He asked opposition political parties and their supporters to bury their affiliations, emphasising the relevance of unity, peace and social cohesion in the pursuit of progress, saying partisan interests would only slow down holistic national development.
