Clergyman Calls on Men to Lead the Fight Against Moral Decadence and Lawlessness

Rev. Benjamin Agbotse, Senior Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) Kasoa District, has called upon men in all walks of life to take an active stand as Christian advocates in combating the growing issues of moral decay and lawlessness within Ghanaian society. He emphasized the significant role men play as fathers, mentors, professionals, and leaders in the church and society. According to Rev. Agbotse, it is their responsibility to address the increasing social challenges, particularly the negative influence on the youth and the integrity of political leadership in the country.
Rev. Agbotse’s remarks were made during the inauguration of the new nine-member executive of the EPCG Kasoa District Men’s Fellowship. The event was a call to action, with Rev. Agbotse urging men, regardless of their position, to use their influence to advocate for change and stand against societal moral degradation. He stated, “As parents, husbands, mentors, academicians, and faith actors, we owe it as our responsibility to denounce and curtail the increasing menace of socio-moral decay and acts of lawlessness in Ghanaian society, particularly among the youth and issues related to the election of our political leaders.”
Rev. Agbotse lamented the steady rise of unruly, indiscipline, and immoral acts that are infiltrating every aspect of Ghanaian society. He highlighted how this troubling trend is gradually eroding the moral fabric of families, schools, and even churches. “It is unfortunate that these unruly, indiscipline, indecent, and immoral acts are steadily destroying our human values in every facet of our society, and regrettably creeping into our homes, schools, and churches,” he noted.
The ceremony also marked the induction of the new executive members of the EPCG Kasoa District Men’s Fellowship, with Ex W.O Lucas Novihoho named as President, Mr. Robert Klu as Vice President, Mr. Emmanuel Akpaloo as Secretary, and Mr. Paul Atsu Yevuyibor as Treasurer. Rev. Agbotse charged the newly elected officers with a responsibility to introduce innovative and practical initiatives to foster decency and restore societal values. He encouraged them to focus on transforming the Men’s Fellowship into a reputable Christian group, one capable of attracting new members and making a lasting impact on their communities.
Rev. Agbotse also took time to commend the outgoing executive officers for their unwavering commitment and hard work during their tenure. Their dedication ensured the continuity and growth of the Fellowship, allowing it to positively influence the lives of many. As the Men’s Fellowship embarks on a new chapter under the leadership of the new executive, Rev. Agbotse called on all members to embody the values of humility, integrity, and diligence in their service. He stressed that the group should always act as “Ambassadors of Christ” in their daily interactions and mission.
In his acceptance speech, Ex W.O Lucas Novihoho, on behalf of the new executive, promised to inspire vibrancy, enthusiasm, and dynamism in the Fellowship’s activities. He emphasized that the new leadership would work diligently to ensure that the Fellowship lives up to its Christian values and commitment to making a tangible difference in society.
The event was further enhanced by the presence of Mr. Samuel Akuettey, President of the EPCG Meridian Presbytery Men’s Fellowship, who chaired the occasion. In his address, Mr. Akuettey urged congregational fellowships nationwide to collaborate more closely with the leadership of their churches to promote both the spiritual and physical development of the church and its members. He highlighted that a strong partnership between the fellowship and church leadership could lead to more effective contributions to the Church’s mission in society.
Rev. Agbotse’s call for men to take up their roles as advocates for change is a timely reminder of the crucial role men can play in shaping the moral direction of society. By standing firm in their values, prioritizing integrity, and taking active steps to address moral decay, men can help to steer the country toward a more positive future. The call for men to serve as role models, mentors, and Christian advocates in the face of current societal challenges is an urgent one, encouraging them to step up and lead the charge against lawlessness and immorality.
