Gabby Otchere-Darko, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as a formidable strategist whose death marks a significant loss for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a heartfelt post on X, Mr. Otchere-Darko highlighted Dr. Boamah’s long-standing contributions to the NDC’s political journey, dating back to his involvement with the Committee for Joint Action (CJA) prior to 2008, and extending through his crucial role in guiding the party’s 2024 election strategies.
“Dr. Omane Boamah’s death is a massive blow to the NDC. Throughout his career, from his early activism to his recent strategic leadership, he shaped the party’s fortunes. At his age, he had many active years ahead. This is a loss too great to quantify,” he wrote.
In a separate message, Mr. Otchere-Darko extended condolences to the entire nation, describing the incident that claimed eight lives—including two sitting ministers—as one of Ghana’s darkest moments.
“We have experienced an unimaginable tragedy—the loss of eight precious lives, including two distinguished Cabinet Ministers. My heartfelt sympathy goes to His Excellency the President, the bereaved families, and all Ghanaians mourning this profound loss,” he said.
He also paid a personal tribute to Dr. Boamah, whom he referred to as his “beloved brother from Koforidua,” who died serving the nation. “May their souls find eternal peace,” he concluded solemnly.
