GES Addresses Teachers’ Worries About 2025 Promotion Process

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has moved to calm growing concerns among teachers across the country regarding the ongoing registration process for the 2025 teacher promotion exercise. In an official press release issued on Thursday, August 21, GES responded directly to the issues raised by applicants, assuring them that no qualified teacher will be excluded and that technical difficulties are actively being addressed.

According to the statement, GES has received numerous reports from teachers experiencing challenges with the online application portal, as well as uncertainty about eligibility criteria—particularly among those whose last promotion or appointment occurred in or before 2021.

In response, the GES provided a firm clarification that all educators who last received a promotion or were appointed in 2021 or earlier are eligible to participate in the 2025 promotion process. The Service emphasized that it is committed to ensuring that every qualified teacher is given a fair opportunity to advance in their career.

“The application is open to all teachers who received their last promotion or appointment in or before 2021,” the statement affirmed, highlighting the Service’s intention to maintain inclusivity and fairness.

Beyond eligibility, a significant portion of the complaints stemmed from technical issues affecting the online registration platform. Many teachers reported being unable to access the application site or complete their registration due to persistent system errors and slow load times. These challenges have caused frustration and anxiety, particularly as the registration deadline approaches.

The GES acknowledged these difficulties and offered assurances that its technical team is actively working to resolve them. According to the press release, system improvements and upgrades are already underway to enhance the functionality and reliability of the platform.

“The Management takes full responsibility for the technical challenge and will solve it,” the GES stated, adding that teachers encountering problems should remain calm and patient while the necessary technical adjustments are implemented.

The Service also reiterated its dedication to a transparent, credible, and equitable promotion process. According to GES, the goal is not only to streamline the registration experience but also to ensure that no teacher is unfairly disadvantaged due to technical barriers or lack of information.

In its closing remarks, the GES emphasized that teacher promotions are a critical aspect of professional development within the education sector, and as such, the process must be handled with integrity and care.

“No teacher due for promotion will be left behind,” the statement concluded, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to inclusiveness and fairness in the 2025 promotion exercise.

The promotion process, which is conducted annually, plays a vital role in career progression for educators across Ghana. It is based on criteria including years of service, performance, and professional development achievements. By advancing through the ranks, teachers not only gain higher responsibility but also improved remuneration and career satisfaction.

As the GES continues to address the concerns raised, it has also encouraged teachers to stay updated through official communication channels and to avoid misinformation circulating on social media or unofficial platforms.

With the assurance from GES now public, many teachers are hopeful that the technical hitches will soon be resolved and that the promotion process will proceed smoothly and fairly for all eligible applicants.
