On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA),Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, extends heartfelt greetings to all Muslims in Ghana and around the world, especially those within the football fraternity. This sacred festival, known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” offers an important moment of reflection, devotion, and unity—a message that deeply resonates with the values of football and community.

In his goodwill message, the GFA President emphasized the significance of Eid-ul-Adha, not only as a religious celebration but also as an opportunity to promote peace, compassion, and togetherness across all segments of society.

“Eid-ul-Adha reminds us of the virtues of faith, sacrifice, humility, and generosity,” the President stated. “These are principles that go beyond religious boundaries and can serve as guiding values for our personal lives, communities, and the broader football family.”

He took the opportunity to commend the contributions of Ghana’s Muslim community to the development of football in the country, both on and off the pitch. From players, coaches, and officials to fans and volunteers, Muslims continue to play an essential role in the growth and success of the sport at all levels.

“We are blessed as a football nation to have a richly diverse and vibrant community, and our Muslim brothers and sisters are an integral part of that,” he noted. “Your passion, discipline, and dedication inspire not only excellence in football but also a spirit of unity and tolerance that our country so dearly needs.”

This year’s Eid-ul-Adha comes at a time when the national team is preparing for critical World Cup qualifying matches, and the GFA President called on the entire nation to remain united in hope and support. He encouraged all Ghanaians, regardless of faith or background, to rally behind the Black Stars and other national teams, as they strive to bring glory to Ghana on the global stage.

“Let us use this season of sacrifice and prayer to renew our collective commitment to building a stronger, more united Ghana—both in football and beyond,” he added. “Our success on the pitch depends as much on talent as it does on the support, encouragement, and belief of the people.”

The President also acknowledged the challenging times many communities are facing due to economic hardship and global uncertainty. He called for a spirit of empathy, charity, and social responsibility, urging those who are able to support the vulnerable and less fortunate in their communities during this festive season.

“Eid-ul-Adha teaches us that sharing our blessings is a noble act that strengthens the bonds between us,” he said. “In this light, I encourage all members of our football family to reach out, give generously, and uplift those around them.”

In conclusion, the GFA President reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to inclusivity, mutual respect, and nation-building through sports. He expressed optimism that the values celebrated during Eid-ul-Adha will continue to inspire positive change, both within football circles and the broader society.

“On behalf of the Ghana Football Association, I wish you and your families a joyful, peaceful, and blessed Eid-ul-Adha,” he said. “May this occasion bring renewed hope, healing, and happiness to all.”

As Muslims across the world gather with loved ones to mark this important celebration, the GFA joins in solidarity, offering prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress for Ghana and its people.

Eid Mubarak to all.
