Government Urged To Reform Education Sector And Return Mission Schools To Churches

The Bishop Herman Old Boys Union (BHOBU) class of 1995 has appealed to the government to implement reforms in the education sector, particularly by considering the return of mission schools to their mother churches.
According to Raymond Okrofu, who spoke at the 30-year anniversary celebration of the class of 1995, mission schools provided better education and were more responsive to the nation’s needs when managed by churches.
Okrofu commended the previous administration’s introduction of free Senior High School (SHS) education and suggested that the government allow churches to support in managing their schools.
He emphasized that mission schools remain among the best in Ghana, indicating that their management style is effective. The BHOBU class of 1995 also urged the government to prioritize curriculum reforms that address contemporary needs while preserving Ghana’s cultural identity.
