Residents of Kokofu Adwumam, a community in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, are deeply concerned and fearful over a troubling series of mysterious deaths that have plagued their area. Within a span of just three months, the community has lost four young individuals, with the oldest being only 25 years old. This sudden and unexplained loss of life has left the residents in a state of anxiety and distress, with many feeling that something is deeply wrong in the community.

The alarming deaths have sparked widespread panic, and the people of Kokofu Adwumam are increasingly worried about the safety and well-being of their families. In conversations with the media, several community members expressed their suspicions that these deaths may be linked to the prolonged absence of traditional leadership in the area. For over 12 years, the community has been without both a Chief and a Queenmother, which many believe is contributing to the growing fear and unease among the residents. The absence of these key figures, who are typically responsible for providing guidance, protection, and unity, has left the community feeling rudderless and vulnerable.

The residents’ sense of insecurity has reached a breaking point. They are now urgently calling for intervention from the highest authority in the Ashanti Kingdom—Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The people of Kokofu Adwumam believe that only the return of traditional leadership can restore the stability and peace they desperately need. The absence of a Chief and Queenmother has not only created a leadership vacuum but has also led to a breakdown in community values and traditions, further exacerbating the fears of the residents.

Hon. Richard Adu, the Assembly Member for Kokofu Adwumam, has also voiced his growing concerns about the situation. He expressed that the lack of a Chief and Queenmother has resulted in a decline in respect and order within the community. Without these respected leaders to guide and uphold traditions, the people have become disillusioned, and a sense of chaos is starting to take root. Hon. Adu also highlighted the disturbing sight of the community’s cemetery being overtaken by illegal mining activities, known locally as “galamsey.” This is a clear sign of the breakdown of authority and the erosion of societal norms in the absence of leadership.

The situation has become dire, and the people of Kokofu Adwumam feel abandoned and helpless. The community’s plea for help is urgent, as they fear that the deaths may continue if something is not done soon. The residents are desperately asking Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to step in and address their concerns. They are calling for the swift reinstatement of a Chief and Queenmother to restore traditional governance, order, and respect in the community.

The people of Kokofu Adwumam are pleading for immediate action, as their fears about the mysterious deaths and the overall decline of their community continue to grow. They are looking to their traditional leaders for guidance and hope that the intervention of the Ashanti King will bring much-needed relief to a community that feels increasingly vulnerable and forgotten.
