Mahama Calls for Urgent Prayers Amidst Ghana’s Crisis

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has urged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to increase their focus on prayer, stressing that the current moment requires even greater spiritual devotion than during the campaign period. Mahama emphasized that, in this time of transition and challenge, the party must rely on divine guidance and strength to fulfill its mission of improving the lives of all Ghanaians.
Speaking to a large gathering of NDC supporters, Mahama encouraged them to engage in more fervent prayers, acknowledging the importance of divine wisdom and strength in helping the party navigate the significant responsibilities ahead. “This is the time we need to engage in fervent prayers, more than we did during the campaign. We must pray that God grants us the strength and wisdom to implement policies that will make Ghana a better place for everyone,” he said. Mahama added that the victory they had achieved in the elections was already ordained, stating, “All I will say is that it is finished; God has already done it.”
Reflecting on the economic challenges ahead, Mahama criticized the outgoing government, led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for leaving behind substantial debts across critical sectors such as education and energy. He argued that these financial burdens were part of a strategic effort by the NPP to undermine his incoming administration, effectively placing a trap for his government to fall into. Despite these challenges, Mahama remained resolute, vowing that his government would rise above these difficulties.
“The NPP government has set a trap for us, but we shall not be caught in that trap. We will escape unscathed,” Mahama declared with confidence. He expressed faith in divine intervention, assuring supporters that the Almighty God, who had granted them electoral victory, would continue to guide them through the challenges ahead. “God will give us the wisdom to lead this country and make it better for future generations,” he added.
Mahama’s remarks focused not only on the immediate challenges of governance but also on the broader vision of making Ghana a more prosperous and equitable nation. He expressed his belief that, despite the obstacles created by the previous government, the NDC would overcome the odds and build a better future for Ghanaians.
Additionally, Mahama briefly addressed the issue of delays in the disbursement of funds to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). He referred to a Facebook post he had made criticizing the postponement of necessary funding for the exams, which had caused some concerns. Mahama’s comments highlighted his administration’s commitment to addressing important educational issues, such as ensuring timely funding for exams, as part of the broader effort to improve the country’s education system.
In his call for prayer and faith, Mahama reminded the NDC supporters that the road ahead would not be easy, but with divine support, the party could achieve its goals. He acknowledged the weight of the responsibilities awaiting him and his team but expressed optimism about their ability to navigate the challenges and bring about the positive changes that the people of Ghana had voted for.
Mahama’s speech also underscored the importance of unity within the party, urging all members to come together and support the incoming administration in the face of the many difficulties that lay ahead. The spirit of collaboration, Mahama stressed, would be key to overcoming the challenges of governance and ensuring that the party fulfilled its mandate to improve the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
As Mahama prepares to take office, his call for prayer and his unwavering faith in divine intervention signal his determination to lead with wisdom, strength, and humility. His focus on overcoming obstacles, whether financial or political, serves as a clear message to his supporters that his administration will rise above adversity and work tirelessly for the betterment of the nation.
