Manhean Presby Primary ‘A’ Basic School Receives 100 Dual Desks from Rotary Club of Tema and GPHA
Manhean Presby Primary ‘A’ Basic School in Tema New Town, situated in the Tema metropolis, has recently received a generous donation of 100 dual desks from the Rotary Club of Tema in partnership with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) – Tema Port. This donation, valued at GHS 30,000, aims to improve the learning experience of students by providing them with more comfortable seating arrangements during classes. The desks were officially presented to the school’s headmistress, teachers, and students in a ceremony that was attended by prominent figures from both organizations.
The donation was made possible through the efforts of the Rotary Club of Tema, which is part of Rotary International, a global network of service clubs dedicated to improving the lives of people around the world. The club’s President, Rotarian Linda Anang, led the delegation for the event. Alongside her was Mr. George Owusu Ababio, a representative from the Marketing and Public Affairs Office of GPHA – Tema Port. The donation was aimed at addressing some of the infrastructure challenges the school has faced, particularly the lack of adequate desks for the students.
Rotarian Linda Anang took the opportunity to highlight the core values and mission of Rotary International, stressing that the organization is committed to humanitarian service and addressing critical issues that impact local communities and the world at large. “Rotary International is a service club of professionals, problem-solvers, and leaders who are passionate about improving lives,” she said. “Rotarians are people of action, driven by a desire to create opportunities, strengthen communities, and find solutions to tough challenges that affect people locally and globally.”
She further explained that a recent community assessment revealed that Manhean Presby Primary ‘A’ School was in need of basic infrastructure, particularly in the area of furniture. In response, Rotary Club of Tema reached out to GPHA – Tema Port, which readily agreed to provide the necessary support. The provision of the 100 dual desks is a direct result of this collaboration.
“The Magic of Rotary is alive today at Manhean Presby Primary ‘A’ School, as we proudly present the 100 dual desks to the school,” Rotarian Linda Anang remarked during the ceremony. “This donation is a testament to our shared commitment to improving educational resources and empowering the next generation of leaders in our community. Together, we are making strides toward a brighter future for our children.”
She also acknowledged that many schools in the community continue to face significant challenges due to inadequate resources. However, she expressed hope that through collective efforts, improvements can be made. She reiterated that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves access to quality education and the necessary tools to succeed. “While many schools face challenges with basic resources, there is always an opportunity for us to come together and advocate for improvements. Every child deserves quality education, and we must continue to work together to ensure that every school has the resources it needs to help students thrive,” she stated.
In addition to the donation of the desks, the event served as an opportunity to celebrate the collaborative efforts between Rotary Club of Tema and GPHA – Tema Port in supporting the development of education in the community. Both organizations expressed their commitment to continuing their support for the school and other educational institutions in the area.
The donation of the 100 dual desks to Manhean Presby Primary ‘A’ School is part of a broader effort by Rotary Club of Tema to improve educational resources and support schools that are facing infrastructural challenges. By providing the students with more comfortable and suitable seating arrangements, Rotary Club of Tema hopes to enhance the learning environment and contribute to the academic success of the students.
The collaboration between the Rotary Club of Tema and GPHA – Tema Port serves as an inspiring example of how local organizations can come together to address pressing issues and make a positive impact on the community. The donation of the desks is just one of many initiatives undertaken by Rotary Club of Tema in its ongoing efforts to improve education, healthcare, and overall living conditions in the area. The organizations involved in the project hope that their contributions will create a lasting legacy of community development and empowerment for future generations.
