Nation Grieves as Bodies of Military Crash Victims Arrive at 37 Hospital
The Ghana Armed Forces has solemnly confirmed the return of the remains of all eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in Wednesday’s military helicopter crash. The victims, who were aboard the ill-fated Z-9 helicopter, were flown to Accra on Tuesday, August 6, 2025, and have been entrusted to the 37 Military Hospital as preparations for burial begin.
The remains were carefully retrieved from the crash site near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom district of the Ashanti Region. Their arrival at the Air Force Base in Accra was marked by a dignified and emotional ceremony attended by senior government officials, military leaders, and grieving citizens.
Leading the official delegation was Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Presidency, who joined the Military High Command and other dignitaries to receive the bodies with honour and reverence.
In a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the Ghana Armed Forces expressed deep gratitude to the local community of Sikaman and the security agencies involved in the search and recovery mission. The statement also conveyed heartfelt condolences from the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Brogya Genfi, and the entire Military High Command to the bereaved families.
“This is a moment of profound national sorrow,” the statement noted, describing the crash and its aftermath as a “difficult national tragedy” that has touched every corner of the country.
The remains will remain at the 37 Military Hospital until funeral arrangements are formally announced. Ghanaians are expected to unite in collective mourning as the nation prepares to honour those who paid the ultimate price in service to their country.
