New 10-Member GIPC Board Officially Inaugurated

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has officially inaugurated a newly constituted 10-member governing board of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), with a clear charge to reposition Ghana as a top destination for foreign direct investment (FDI).
The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in Accra, underscored the GIPC’s vital role in fostering economic growth and job creation through strategic investment initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare highlighted the importance of the board’s mandate and assured the members of ongoing efforts to enhance the Centre’s legal and institutional framework.
“I am confident that you are aware of the mandate of the board, which is to attract foreign direct investment into Ghana. We are reviewing the GIPC Act to make it more robust and responsive to today’s investment landscape,” the Minister noted.
She emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the GIPC’s capacity to deliver on its core objectives and align with the broader national agenda for economic transformation.
The newly appointed board is chaired by Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, a former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development. In his remarks, he expressed the board’s readiness to support the Ministry’s vision and contribute meaningfully to national development.
“We do not take these responsibilities lightly. We pledge our full commitment to supporting your efforts and advancing the president’s vision for transforming Ghana,” he stated.

The GIPC remains the primary agency responsible for promoting and facilitating investment in Ghana. With the new board in place, there is renewed optimism about boosting investor confidence and accelerating the inflow of high-impact investments into critical sectors of the economy.
