North East Region Commended by NPP for Exceptional Support During 2024 Elections

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has praised the people of the North East Region for their remarkable support in the 2024 general elections, describing the area as a standout in an otherwise disappointing electoral outcome for the party nationwide.
While the NPP experienced a significant drop in its overall vote tally—losing more than two million votes compared to previous elections—leaders of the party acknowledged the North East Region as the only area where voter support actually increased. This performance was particularly notable given that the region is the political stronghold of the party’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
As part of the party’s nationwide “Thank You Tour,” Dr. Bawumia visited the region to personally express appreciation to voters for their loyalty. Addressing supporters, he commended them for bucking the national trend and delivering increased votes for the NPP despite widespread voter apathy across other regions.
“In what was a very challenging election year for our party, the North East Region stood out as a beacon of support and commitment,” Dr. Bawumia stated. “This is the only region where our votes went up, and for that, I am sincerely grateful. On behalf of the entire NPP, I thank you for your continued trust.”
He went on to reiterate the party’s appreciation to all supporters nationwide, but emphasized the unique and encouraging performance of the North East Region. “Your belief in the NPP during such a tough time gives us hope for the future,” he added.
Representing the party’s National Chairman, the NPP’s National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Massaudu, also acknowledged the region’s crucial role in keeping the party’s momentum alive. He praised the electorate for their steadfast commitment and urged them to continue backing the NPP in the years ahead.
“Your unwavering support did not go unnoticed,” Massaudu said. “We urge you to remain loyal to the party as we work toward a stronger comeback in the next elections. Together, we can rebuild and return even more united.”
The party’s Deputy General Secretary echoed these sentiments, noting that the North East Region’s performance served as a source of encouragement for the leadership as it begins efforts to reorganize and reenergize the party base after the electoral setback.
Looking ahead, Dr. Bawumia encouraged party members in the region to stay optimistic and committed. He assured them that the NPP remains determined to return to power in 2028, and that the hard work must begin now. “Let’s stay united and focused. With determination and faith, we will bounce back. God’s timing is always perfect,” he said.
The Thank You Tour is part of the NPP’s broader post-election outreach, aimed at engaging supporters across the country and rebuilding confidence after the disappointing 2024 results. Despite the challenges, party leaders remain hopeful that the lessons learned will help chart a path forward toward a successful future.
