The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has openly acknowledged the party’s shortcomings during its time in government and issued a heartfelt apology to the Ghanaian people.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 19, Mr. Kodua assured the electorate that should the party be given another chance to govern, it would avoid repeating the mistakes of the past administration.

While highlighting the notable achievements made under the NPP’s leadership, he admitted there were key areas where the party fell short. He emphasized that the party takes full responsibility for these failings and is not turning a blind eye to them.

“As a political party, we certainly did our best, but we couldn’t have gotten everything right,” Kodua said. “On behalf of our former government and political party, I want to apologise for certain things we failed to handle properly.”

Following its defeat in the 2024 general elections after two consecutive terms in office, the NPP has embarked on a period of self-assessment and internal reforms. According to Mr. Kodua, this reflective phase has allowed the party to critically evaluate its governance record and prepare for a more effective return to power.

He concluded by reaffirming the NPP’s dedication to growth, learning, and accountability.

“We are committed to learning from our past, so that when we come back to power, we will build on our successes and ensure the mistakes we made will not be repeated,” he pledged.
