NPP Demands EC Resume Collation of Results, Claims Victory in All 12 Disputed Seats

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed confidence in its victory in all 12 parliamentary seats currently in dispute following the 2024 elections. The contested constituencies include Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Dome Kwabenya, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano South West, Akwatia, Suhum, Fanteakwa North, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and Techiman South.
At a press conference in Accra on Monday, December 16, 2024, the NPP addressed concerns regarding delays and controversies surrounding the collation and declaration of results in certain constituencies. The party urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to promptly resume the collation process to ensure the democratic will of the voters is upheld.
Peter Mac Manu, the former National Chairman of the NPP, emphasized the need for the EC to continue its work without further delay. He highlighted that the intervention of the EC was crucial in resolving any uncertainties and ensuring national stability. Mac Manu also called on the National Election Security Taskforce to ensure adequate security to facilitate peaceful collation and avoid any disturbances. Furthermore, he urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to control their supporters and prevent actions that could disrupt the process.
The NPP stated that its claims of victory in the disputed constituencies are based on verifiable data from polling station results, particularly the official pink sheets submitted after the elections. The party reaffirmed its confidence in the accuracy of these results, asserting that the party’s parliamentary candidates in these constituencies won the elections.
Mac Manu further appealed to all relevant stakeholders, including the EC, political parties, and security agencies, to act decisively to protect democracy and ensure peace during the final stages of the election process. The NPP emphasized the importance of respecting the will of the voters and urged the EC to take swift action to reflect the results as expressed in the December polls.
In his address, Mac Manu also criticized the opposition NDC for allegedly interfering with the collation process. He raised concerns about the actions of certain NDC supporters, which he claimed contributed to the delays in declaring the results in the disputed constituencies. He called on the NDC leadership to show responsibility and order their supporters to desist from any actions that could undermine the democratic process.
The NPP’s demand for the immediate resumption of the results collation process, backed by the party’s confidence in the data from the pink sheets, underscores their commitment to ensuring that the final results reflect the will of the electorate. The party’s call for a peaceful and orderly resolution of the election disputes highlights its dedication to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and safeguarding national stability.
