In a significant step toward promoting inclusive education in Ghana, Relief and Aid International, a humanitarian non-governmental organization, has awarded full tertiary scholarships to 45 brilliant but financially challenged students. The scholarships aim to alleviate the burden of rising educational costs and ensure that deserving students are not denied the opportunity to pursue higher education due to economic hardship.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s Omanye Aba City Hall last Saturday, brought together a cross-section of dignitaries, including education policymakers, members of the diplomatic corps, traditional authorities, and representatives from civil society organizations. The event was organized under the theme: “Beyond the Aid & Unveiling the Future,” which reflects the organization’s long-term commitment to sustainable empowerment through education.

Opening Doors Through Education

The recipients of the scholarships will be pursuing various disciplines including law, medicine, agriculture, nursing, accounting, political science, food and nutrition, marketing, and education. These areas were selected in alignment with national development priorities, with the goal of nurturing a generation of skilled professionals who can contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s progress.

Speaking at the event, the Founder and President of Relief and Aid International, Peggy Naa Ayikailey Adamafio, emphasized that the future of the country rests in the hands of its youth and that equitable access to education is key to unlocking their potential. She noted that while talent is abundant across Ghana, opportunity often isn’t.

“Our mission is to bridge the gap between talent and access. We believe every gifted student deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of financial background,” she said. “Education is not just a personal benefit; it is a national asset. By investing in young people—especially in critical sectors such as healthcare and education—we are investing in Ghana’s future.”

Madam Adamafio also took time to recognize the individuals, organizations, and donors who have supported the foundation’s work over the years. She called for continued collaboration in helping more students achieve their academic dreams.

A Collective Commitment

The event also featured remarks from Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, who commended Relief and Aid International for its commitment to education and social equity. He noted that the initiative complements the government’s broader strategy of expanding access to tertiary education, particularly for students from under-resourced communities.

“This scholarship scheme reflects a shared responsibility to ensure that no talented young Ghanaian is left behind due to economic barriers,” Dr. Apaak stated. “The theme ‘Beyond the Aid’ is a timely call to action. It urges us to move from short-term relief to long-term investments in human capital.”

He encouraged the awardees to see the scholarship not just as a personal achievement, but as a duty to give back to society. “Let this support inspire you to work harder, to lead by example, and to be agents of change in your communities,” he added.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The atmosphere at the event was filled with gratitude, hope, and renewed energy. Many of the beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the life-changing opportunity. For them, the scholarship represents more than just financial support—it is a vote of confidence in their potential and a pathway toward building a better future.

As the education landscape in Ghana continues to evolve, Relief and Aid International is positioning itself as a vital partner in creating an inclusive system that prioritizes equal opportunity. The organization has pledged to expand its scholarship program in the coming years and to continue advocating for policies that support underprivileged students.

In a time where many bright minds risk being left behind due to financial constraints, Relief and Aid International is proving that with the right support, the dreams of Ghana’s youth can not only survive—but thrive.
