Ridge Church School Bids Farewell to 2025 Graduates

idge Church School in Accra held a colourful and inspiring graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to honour its outgoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates. Seventy students, comprising 35 boys and 35 girls, were celebrated for completing their basic education under the theme “From Here to Beyond: A Journey of Transformation.”
The event was marked by vibrant displays of culture and tradition, as the graduates—dressed in elegant African prints and formal attire—received sashes and Bibles to commemorate their transition from basic education to the next stage of their academic journey. Several students were also honoured for academic excellence, leadership, and extracurricular achievements. The valedictorian award went to Ohenewaa Asiedu.
The guest speaker for the occasion, Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney, Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), delivered a rousing keynote address. He challenged the Class of 2025 to embrace ambition and confidence as they pursue their dreams.
“I want you to be bold, daring and passionate,” Mr. Biney said. “Live your dreams. Aspire to be whoever you want to be—the next president, the next Chief Justice, or a great pilot, doctor, teacher or journalist.”
He urged the graduates to remain grounded in the values they had acquired at Ridge Church School and to carry forward its strong legacy of discipline, integrity and service. Mr. Biney emphasized that success was not solely defined by academic achievements, but also by character and a willingness to act rightly, even in the absence of supervision.
“Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, will take you far in life,” he noted.
He also spoke on the importance of relationships and community, referring to the graduates’ shared experiences as a source of lifelong social capital. These connections, he said, could open doors to future opportunities and support their ambitions in meaningful ways.
Reflections from Leadership
Headmistress Mrs. Nana Ama Acheampomaa Badasu, whose own son, Michael Kofi Edem Badasu, was among the graduates, shared heartfelt reflections on the Class of 2025’s journey. She described the group as resilient, united, and determined—qualities that helped them navigate both academic challenges and broader life disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
She commended the students for embodying the class motto “Relentless,” which she said perfectly captured their spirit and perseverance through difficult times.
“The growth we’ve witnessed in you is remarkable,” Mrs. Badasu said. “You have demonstrated unity, hard work, and faith, and these will serve you well as you step into a world full of promise.”
Mrs. Badasu also acknowledged the essential role of parents in shaping the graduates’ development, praising their involvement and support in furthering the school’s mission to nurture well-rounded, responsible citizens.
She encouraged the students to hold fast to their Christian foundation, reminding them to remain rooted in their faith as they explore new paths.
“Remain in the True Vine—Jesus Christ—and you will bear fruit,” she said. “Embrace change, be courageous, and continue learning. The future holds endless possibilities, and we believe you are ready to make your mark.”
