Ghanaian music star Stay Jay has firmly dismissed rumors of retirement, declaring that his career is not over but rather entering an exciting new phase. Known for his chart-topping hit Shashee Wowo and his signature Twi Pop style, the Tema-based artiste is making headlines again with a bold comeback and fresh sound.

In an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz, Stay Jay addressed speculation that he had exited the music scene. “People can go to sleep with those thoughts. I’m still here, stronger than ever. My growth as an artist and as a person has been immense, and now I’m more prepared than ever to share that with the world,” he said confidently.

His latest single, Baajo, is already turning heads and reigniting interest in his artistry. Rooted in the infectious rhythms of Amapiano—South Africa’s booming genre—Baajo brings a distinctly Ghanaian twist with the inclusion of local language and high-energy beats. The title, which means “come and dance” in Ga, captures the essence of the song: vibrant, uplifting, and designed to bring people together through music.

Produced by SkyBeatz, Baajo is a two-minute, 48-second burst of joy. The track blends log drums, catchy hooks, and soulful undertones to create a dance anthem with wide appeal. For Stay Jay, the song is more than just a musical release—it’s a reflection of a renewed spirit.

“The idea for Baajo came from a really positive experience,” he shared. “I was hanging out with friends, and the vibe was just incredible—everyone was smiling, dancing, and living in the moment. That atmosphere inspired me to create something that celebrates happiness, unity, and African culture.”

Stay Jay hopes the track resonates with listeners everywhere, whether they’re partying at the beach, relaxing at home, or dancing in clubs. “Baajo is for anyone who loves good energy. It’s a reminder to take a break from life’s stress and just dance.”

But this is just the beginning of a broader creative push. Stay Jay revealed that he’s working on an extended play (EP) project that will showcase the full spectrum of his talent. The EP, currently in development, aims to re-establish his musical identity and prove that he still has a lot to offer the industry.

“I’m building an EP that reflects my journey—past, present, and future. It’s going to feature different styles and topics, from love and resilience to social commentary and pure entertainment. I’m also working on a dual album drop that I think will surprise a lot of people,” he announced.

Stay Jay is not only focused on commercial success but also passionate about artistic purpose. According to him, music is a calling—a deeper expression of his soul. “For me, songwriting isn’t just a profession. It’s a spiritual and emotional outlet. It’s how I connect with people.”

With his eyes set on the international scene, Stay Jay aspires to work with global heavyweights like Burna Boy and Dua Lipa. His goal is to represent Ghana on the world stage while promoting authentic African sounds.

“Ghanaian music has so much power. Our rhythms, our language, our stories—they deserve to be heard worldwide. I want to be one of the voices leading that charge,” he said.

In an industry known for quick fame and fast fades, Stay Jay’s message is a refreshing reminder of staying power and artistic growth. With Baajo leading the way and more music in the pipeline, he is proving that his journey is far from over.

“People thought I was done, but I’m just warming up. This is a new beginning—and I’m ready to make it count,” he declared.
