The Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO II Peter Tetteh, has appealed to the general public to refrain from attacking firefighters while they are performing their duties, especially during fire emergencies in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking on the occasion of International Firefighters Day, ACFO II Tetteh described recent attacks on fire officers in Konongo, Mamponteng, and Ejisu as deeply unfortunate. He noted that three fire stations have been attacked due to public dissatisfaction over perceived delays in response times.

He pleaded with Ghanaians to allow fire officers to do their work without interference, emphasizing that such attacks hinder effective service delivery during critical emergencies.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has condemned the attacks and assured firefighters that investigations are underway to identify and prosecute those responsible.

Dr. Amoakohene also announced that his office is committed to repairing damaged fire tenders and providing the necessary support to enhance the service’s operations. He further called for the removal of illegal structures blocking fire hydrants to ensure unimpeded access for firefighting efforts.
