Students of Nana Badu Bonsu Basic School in Sekondi-Takoradi Benefit from Educational Donations by GOIL

More than 400 students from Nana Badu Bonsu Basic School in Sekondi-Takoradi were the recipients of a generous donation of educational materials from GOIL Ghana, marking another chapter in the company’s commitment to supporting education through its corporate social responsibility initiatives. This contribution is part of GOIL’s broader effort to support communities where it operates by enhancing educational opportunities for young learners.

The donation ceremony, held on March 20, benefited pupils from various grade levels, including Kindergarten 1 & 2, Class 6, and JHS 1 & 2. The educational materials provided were designed to support and enhance students’ academic journeys. Among the items distributed were crayons, colored pencils, rulers, pencils, erasers, drawing books, coloring books, exercise books, math books, math sets, pens, and sharpeners. These tools are essential for improving the quality of learning and helping students develop critical skills.

Andy William Nana Adu Tawiah, the Territory Executive for GOIL’s Western Zone, spoke at the event and emphasized the company’s dedication to contributing positively to the communities in which it operates. He highlighted the significant role of education in shaping the future of Ghana and reiterated GOIL’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives aimed at improving the lives of young people.

“At GOIL, we firmly believe that education is the foundation for building a better future. This donation is just one of many ways we aim to invest in the next generation of learners,” said Tawiah. “We are committed to continuously supporting schools and students in need, as we know that providing educational resources is a key part of building a brighter future for everyone.”

The Headmistress of Nana Badu Bonsu Basic School, Mrs. Mercy Appiah, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the donation. She acknowledged that the materials would greatly benefit both the students and their families, alleviating some of the challenges they face in accessing necessary educational tools. She went on to emphasize how important such donations are for enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that all students have the materials they need to succeed.

“We are extremely grateful to GOIL for their support. This generous donation will go a long way in improving the teaching and learning experience at our school,” said Mrs. Appiah. “These materials will not only make learning more engaging but will also ensure that our students have access to the resources they need to thrive academically.”

However, while Mrs. Appiah expressed gratitude, she also pointed out the ongoing challenges the school faces. She appealed to other organizations and stakeholders to provide additional support in order to address these challenges. “Although we are thankful for this donation, we still face other challenges at the school that require urgent attention. We encourage other corporate bodies and community members to step in and help us further improve the quality of education we offer our students,” she said.

Mrs. Appiah also took the opportunity to urge parents to play a more active role in their children’s education. She highlighted the importance of parental involvement in creating a supportive environment for learning and ensuring better academic outcomes for students. “We also ask that parents remain engaged in their children’s education and work closely with the school to create an environment that fosters success,” she added.

The donation from GOIL has had a significant impact on the school and its pupils, providing them with the tools necessary for academic growth and achievement.
