Yilo Krobo Citizens Appreciate President Mahama for Appointment

The Chiefs and people of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area in Ghana’s Eastern Region have extended heartfelt appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for recognizing the potential of their people through key political and administrative appointments.
In a formal statement issued by one of the Divisional Chiefs, Nene Anyeenorgu Teye Agor IX, the traditional authorities expressed their gratitude for what they described as an unprecedented gesture. The President, through his recent appointments, has made history by naming four individuals from Yilo Krobo to significant positions within his administration.
Those appointed include Mr. Seth Terkper, who serves as Policy Advisor to the President; Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who holds the position of Inspector General of Police (IGP); Mr. Nathaniel Tetteh, appointed as the Eastern Regional Director of the National Service Authority; and Madam Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who now serves as the Eastern Regional Minister.
The chiefs emphasized that never before in Ghana’s political history had the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area received such broad representation in any single government. According to the statement, the appointments mark the first time the area has seen four of its sons and daughters elevated to high-ranking roles simultaneously. This, they noted, is a clear indication of the confidence President Mahama has in the abilities and competence of the people of Yilo Krobo.
“This act is not just a gesture of goodwill,” Nene Anyeenorgu stated, “but a powerful message that the President is committed to inclusive governance and equitable representation. It is also a fulfillment of his promise to ensure all regions and traditional areas play a role in national development.”
The chiefs and people of Yilo Krobo believe these appointments reflect a deep trust in their community’s potential and a broader vision to empower regions that have long awaited greater involvement in national affairs.
In addition to expressing their appreciation, the community recognized the President’s broader efforts to uplift women and promote gender inclusivity, specifically through the appointment of Madam Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey. They noted that this move aligns with national goals of promoting female leadership and skill development across all regions.
The people of Yilo Krobo also expressed that this move by the President is a demonstration of reciprocated love and loyalty. During the recent 2024 general elections, the area strongly supported President Mahama and the NDC. The community sees these appointments as a reflection of that political loyalty and a promise fulfilled.
“We see this as a new chapter in our relationship with your administration,” the statement continued. “It reassures us that our trust and support are valued. We believe these appointments will open the door to more developmental projects in our traditional area.”
The chiefs pledged their continued support to the President’s development agenda, particularly his efforts to reset and transform the nation. They affirmed their readiness to work collaboratively with the government to advance national growth and ensure prosperity for all.
In conclusion, the statement reaffirmed the community’s unwavering commitment to national unity and progress, pledging their full cooperation in helping build the Ghana that all citizens aspire to see.
The statement ended with warm congratulations to President Mahama for his decisive victory in the 2024 general elections, where he secured a historic and overwhelming mandate to become the sixth President of the Republic of Ghana. The people of Yilo Krobo stand united in their hope for a brighter future under his leadership.
