Amoah the Star in the Making: Kotoko Coach Predicts Bright Future for Young Talent

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has spoken with great pride about the rapid rise of his young striker, Albert Amoah, and has expressed high hopes for his future in football.
Amoah has quickly become one of the most exciting talents in the ongoing Ghana Premier League, capturing the hearts of fans in Oseikrom since joining Kotoko from Great Olympics on a three-year deal at the start of the season. His stunning injury-time winner in last week’s Super Clash against their arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak, marked his seventh goal of the campaign, putting him just one goal behind Faisal Charwetey of Nations FC, who is currently leading the league’s top scorers after 14 matches.
A Bright Future Ahead
Coach Ogum, who has been a mentor to Amoah since his teenage years, expressed no surprise at the 22-year-old’s rise to prominence. He has been a firm believer in Amoah’s potential from the start and is confident that the young forward’s talent will continue to flourish. Ogum is optimistic that the platform Kotoko provides will serve as a springboard for even greater success in Amoah’s career.
“I first coached Albert when he was in Senior High School in the Central Region, so I’ve known him for a long time. I recognized his massive potential early on and made sure to nurture it. Coaching is about unlocking that potential, and I knew with the right guidance, he could reach great heights,” Ogum told Graphic Sports.
The Kotoko coach emphasized the qualities that have made Amoah stand out, noting his impressive footballing abilities. “He has the three ‘S’ qualities that every footballer needs—speed, skill, and strength. But what stands out the most is his commitment and his passion for both training and playing. He’s a really good player,” Ogum added, highlighting the youngster’s work ethic and natural abilities.
National Spotlight
Amoah’s excellent performances at the club level have earned him a spot on Ghana’s national team B, the Black Galaxies. He was given a starting role as the lead striker for the Black Galaxies in the first leg of the final qualifier against Nigeria for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Coach Ogum is confident that Amoah will continue his impressive form with the national team and help propel them to success. “He is always hungry to score in every match. If he continues with this mindset and stays disciplined in his training and fitness, I believe he will surpass the player we see now,” Ogum stated with confidence, emphasizing Amoah’s ability to improve even further.
Staying Humble and Focused
Despite his impressive rise and increasing recognition, Coach Ogum has urged Amoah to remain grounded and continue working hard to ensure sustained success. He emphasized that consistency and discipline are essential as the young forward continues to develop his talent.
“I advise him to stay humble, follow instructions, and keep working hard. Kotoko is a huge club with high expectations, and he must use this platform to aim for even higher achievements. He has the ability to win the goal king title, and his teammates are fully behind him in helping him score more goals,” Ogum concluded.
With his coach’s guidance and the support of his teammates, Albert Amoah looks set for an exciting future in football. His rapid rise at both the club and international levels is a testament to his talent and work ethic, and the promising young striker seems poised for continued success in Ghanaian football for years to come.
