Government Closes Land Borders

The Ministry of the Interior has announced a temporary closure of all land borders in Ghana in preparation for the December 7 elections.
This measure, which is aimed at safeguarding the electoral process and ensuring national security, went into effect immediately and will remain in place until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8.
In an official statement, the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, urged both citizens and travelers to comply with the directive. The Ministry also called for cooperation with the state security agencies that will be enforcing the closure.
“The Ministry strongly encourages all citizens and travelers to and from Ghana to work with the state security agencies responsible for enforcing this directive,” the statement stated.
