Actor Kwaku Manu has shed light on the circumstances that led to the worsening of Okomfour Kwadee’s mental health after he was removed from a rehabilitation center. The details came to light following a viral video that showed the musician’s deteriorating condition, which sparked concern among his fans and the public.

In a video shared on February 7, 2025, Kwaku Manu recounted the series of events that contributed to Kwadee’s unstable state. According to him, when Okomfour Kwadee’s health started to decline, his family and management team decided to place him in a rehab center in an attempt to stabilize his mental health. However, after Kwadee showed signs of recovery, he was suddenly removed from the facility by certain individuals, without consulting or informing the rehab’s owner. This decision, Kwaku Manu claims, set off a chain of events that ultimately led to Kwadee’s relapse.

Kwaku Manu explained that, after Kwadee’s discharge from the rehab center, those responsible for his well-being began taking him to perform at public events and shows. Unfortunately, the people around him failed to maintain the treatment plan that had been prescribed by the rehab’s medical staff. This lack of continued care and attention, according to Kwaku Manu, played a significant role in Kwadee’s eventual breakdown. “After he left the rehab, his management started taking him to perform at shows,” Kwaku Manu shared. “They didn’t even go back to thank the woman who helped him. The people around him didn’t follow the treatment that was prescribed, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they allowed him to smoke after leaving rehab. That’s when he started losing his senses.”

Kwaku Manu’s account highlights how, instead of maintaining the necessary treatment regimen, those in charge of Kwadee’s recovery appeared to disregard the importance of his ongoing care. The actor suggested that these decisions might have had dire consequences on Kwadee’s mental stability, making his condition worse than it might have been if he had stayed at the rehab longer.

In his narration, Kwaku Manu recalled his visit to the rehab center in Kumasi, where he first learned that Kwadee was receiving treatment. He explained that he had visited the center to bring food and, during that visit, he discovered that the troubled musician was being cared for there. “I remember taking food to the rehab center in Kumasi, and that was when I found out Kwadee was there,” Kwaku Manu said. He also acknowledged the selflessness of the rehab center’s owner, who, despite not being related to Kwadee, took on the financial burden of his care. “During the tough times, the rehab owner took care of him. Even though his family helped, the woman handled most of the bills,” he added.

Furthermore, Kwaku Manu revealed that Kwadee, after recovering, would occasionally drive the rehab owner around, showing his gratitude for the care he received. However, many of Kwadee’s fans and the public were unaware of his situation at the time, as he tended to keep a low profile, avoiding the public eye. Despite this, the actor expressed frustration at how people had unfairly shifted the blame onto the rehab owner once Kwadee’s condition began to deteriorate again.

“Some people, without knowing the full story, went as far as accusing the woman of using Kwadee as a driver and insulting her,” Kwaku Manu lamented. He clarified that the rehab center’s owner had done everything she could to help the artist, yet she faced harsh criticism from the public once his situation worsened. This, Kwaku Manu suggested, was an example of how quickly people jump to conclusions without understanding the full picture of the challenges that Kwadee and those caring for him faced.

Kwaku Manu’s recounting of these events highlights the complexity of Okomfour Kwadee’s situation, which has been marred by mismanagement and a lack of proper care after his initial recovery. It also emphasizes the need for understanding and support, rather than blame and criticism, when it comes to the challenges of mental health and addiction.
