Over 200,000 People Cross into Northern Gaza on Foot Within Two Hours, Official Reveals

A Gaza security official told AFP that more than 200,000 displaced individuals made their way back to northern Gaza on foot within two hours of the crossing being reopened. Vehicle checkpoints, which were scheduled to open at 09:00 local time (07:00 GMT), saw delays, as reported by AFP’s correspondent Rushdi Abualouf.
To facilitate the return of displaced people to Gaza City and northern Gaza, the local government has deployed over 5,500 workers. As the return process continues, government estimates indicate that 135,000 tents and caravans will be necessary to accommodate those returning to their homes, many of which have been left in ruins.
