SEED Academy Ghana has officially announced the upcoming SEED Elite Camp 2024, an exciting event dedicated to nurturing the talents of young basketball enthusiasts. The camp aims to provide top-tier basketball training, leadership development, and life-skills education to empower the next generation of athletes. Scheduled for Sunday, December 29, 2024, the camp will take place at the University of Ghana Basketball Court and is designed for participants under the age of 18.
This flagship initiative by SEED Academy Ghana will offer an exceptional opportunity for young athletes to develop their basketball skills while receiving mentorship and guidance from experienced coaches. The camp will feature intensive training sessions focused on improving both the technical and physical aspects of the game. In addition, participants will benefit from workshops that foster personal development, leadership, and essential life skills—aiming to shape well-rounded individuals who can excel on and off the court.
Pops Mensah-Bonsu, the founder of SEED Academy Ghana, former NBA player, and Basketball Africa League (BAL) Ambassador, expressed his excitement and passion for the event. He shared, “We are thrilled to announce the SEED Academy Ghana Elite Camp 2024, a transformative experience combining world-class basketball training with life-skills development. This year’s camp will offer young athletes unprecedented opportunities to grow both on and off the court. We are also deeply grateful to RITE Sports Services for their unwavering support in empowering Ghana’s youth through sports. Together, we are creating a platform for the next generation of athletes, leaders, and change-makers.”
The SEED Elite Camp is aimed at fostering the growth of young talent in Ghana, helping them unlock their full potential. It will focus on both athletic and personal development, encouraging participants to work hard, build discipline, and nurture their leadership capabilities. The camp will also emphasize the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and dedication—qualities that are essential not only in sports but also in life.
In addition to the Elite Camp, SEED Academy Ghana will host its inaugural SEED Sports Leadership Summit on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the University of Ghana Business School. This summit will feature a distinguished lineup of basketball executives, coaches, and players, including Pops Mensah-Bonsu himself and John Manyo-Plange, the Vice President and Head of Strategy and Operations for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The summit will offer valuable insights into career pathways in basketball, highlighting the importance of leadership and the opportunities available within the sport. Discussions will focus on strategies for advancing basketball development in Ghana, addressing the challenges and opportunities in growing the game across the country.
The SEED Sports Leadership Summit will serve as an ideal complement to the SEED Elite Camp, bringing together key figures in basketball to inspire and educate the participants. It is an excellent opportunity for young athletes to engage with industry professionals and gain valuable advice on their careers, as well as learn about the broader landscape of basketball development in Africa.
Through these events, SEED Academy Ghana is striving to create a unique platform for youth development, where young athletes can grow both as sportspeople and as individuals. By combining high-level basketball training with leadership and life-skills education, the academy is equipping participants with the tools they need to succeed in the sport and beyond. The SEED Elite Camp and Sports Leadership Summit are part of SEED Academy Ghana’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth through sports, shaping the next generation of leaders, athletes, and positive change-makers for Ghana and beyond.
As the event approaches, excitement continues to build within the Ghanaian basketball community, with many eagerly anticipating the opportunity to participate and learn from some of the best in the game. SEED Academy Ghana’s dedication to youth development is poised to have a significant impact on the future of basketball in Ghana, and these events are just the beginning of a brighter future for aspiring young athletes across the country.
