Shatta Wale Threatens Judges and Lawyers Not to Call Him After Bullgod Files Another Lawsuit
Shatta Wale has revealed that his former manager, Bullgod, has once again taken him to court, continuing the legal battle that began with a defamation lawsuit filed by Bullgod in 2022. The ongoing legal tension stems from Shatta Wale’s controversial statements made on social media, which implied that Bullgod was involved in the death of Fennec Okyere, a prominent artist manager who was murdered in 2014.
In November 2022, Shatta Wale sparked public outrage when he made an explosive post on social media, threatening to expose what he claimed to know about Bullgod’s alleged role in the murder of Fennec Okyere. In the post, Shatta Wale wrote, “Bullgod, since you are bringing out secrets, you will tell Ghanaians what happened to Fennec’s murder!! And I am not joking this time!!” He went further to add, “I am ready to tell the court about what you told me about you and your men, and how you planned that foolish act. Get ready. This Akufo-Addo won’t give you a murderer’s chance to be on our streets!!! Watch how this ends!!! You can’t fight time!!!”
These remarks prompted Bullgod’s legal team to take swift action, filing a lawsuit in the Accra High Court. The suit claimed that Shatta Wale’s comments were defamatory, implying that Bullgod was involved in Fennec Okyere’s murder. Bullgod sought damages, demanding a declaration that Shatta Wale’s statements were both malicious and damaging to his reputation.
In response to the lawsuit, Bullgod’s legal team reportedly sought an out-of-court settlement in March 2023, but no further details have emerged regarding the progress or resolution of that settlement. As the legal dispute continued to unfold, Shatta Wale revealed that Bullgod had once again filed another lawsuit against him, expressing frustration over the situation
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, Shatta Wale vented his anger and disappointment, especially because, according to him, Bullgod had been releasing his unreleased songs without permission. Shatta criticized the legal system, stating that the real issues surrounding his property and his unreleased music were not being addressed properly. “I want to tell every judge and lawyer that if people bring problems to them, and it’s not important, they should deal with them right there,” Shatta Wale said during the interview. “As I’m talking to you now, Bullgod has served me a letter. How can you take my property and put it out there for free? But you would rather run to court.”
Shatta’s frustration grew as he questioned why the court was not addressing Bullgod’s actions but instead focusing on him. “The judges won’t ask the real story behind the issue, but they want me to hire a lawyer. Can’t they ask Bullgod why he put my entire unreleased album out there? I’m tired of hiring lawyers. I’m just waiting for any lawyer or judge to do what they want,” he continued, emphasizing his weariness with the legal proceedings.
Shatta Wale also criticized the country’s justice system, claiming that the frequent legal battles and public scrutiny were taking a toll on him. “I am waiting for some lawyer or judge to call me, like the election would be paused. I’m getting tired of the system. I was even jailed when some pastor predicted my death, and I’m still alive. What sort of country is this? How can all these foolish problems keep coming to me every day while I fold my arms and watch?” he lamented.
The dancehall artist also revealed that he had given Bullgod substantial sums of money and valuable items, which, according to him, were never returned. Shatta Wale claimed that during their initial court proceedings, a judge had urged Bullgod to settle the matter amicably, as Shatta was viewed as the younger of the two. “When we went to court the first time, the judge said, ‘Bullgod, Shatta is your junior brother, try and settle this matter.’ And that’s how we took the issue out of court,” Shatta recalled.
However, Shatta made it clear that he was no longer willing to go through the court process again. “I want to tell Bullgod that I won’t go to court again. I have given him $60,000 and a brand-new Sonata. He should return those things, or he should forget about the court.” He further declared, “No judge can force me to go to court over and over. I don’t like those things. Going to court isn’t my talent. I didn’t cause any problem for Bullgod, so nobody should come and waste my time in this country. I’m tired. The country isn’t even helping me or protecting me. It’s the street that is helping me.”
Shatta Wale’s ongoing legal battle with Bullgod highlights a tense and complex relationship between the two, with Shatta expressing frustration over the continuous legal disputes and claims of mismanagement and betrayal. While Shatta insists that he is exhausted by the system and no longer wishes to engage in court battles, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming months.
