Victory Bible Church International (VBCI), one of Ghana’s leading charismatic ministries, has officially launched a year-long series of activities to commemorate its 40th anniversary. The announcement was made during a special service held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the church’s headquarters, the Dominion Sanctuary in Accra.

The church, founded by Right Reverend Nii Nabi Nii Apiakai Tackie-Yarboi on June 2, 1985, began with humble beginnings in the Kokomlemle neighborhood of Accra. Over the course of four decades, VBCI has grown into an international presence, expanding its reach to six countries across four continents: Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe. In Ghana, the church has over 175 branches, with 30 consecrated bishops overseeing churches across 39 global provinces. Globally, VBCI operates a total of 250 local sanctuaries. The church’s mission, “Raising the Foundations of Many Generations,” is rooted in the biblical verse from Isaiah 58:12, which speaks of building and restoring communities for future generations.

The celebration of the church’s 40 years of service was marked by a vibrant and colorful event at the Dominion Sanctuary. Hundreds of VBCI members gathered to express their gratitude for the church’s impact on their lives and society as a whole. The service included powerful praise and worship, followed by moving testimonies from senior bishops of the church, Emmanuel Ackun and Cornelius Adjah-Cofie. The bishops shared their personal experiences working alongside Bishop Tackie-Yarboi, highlighting the highs and lows of the church’s remarkable journey over the years.

During the event, the church also unveiled its official 40th-anniversary logo and commemorative t-shirt. In a heartfelt address, Bishop Tackie-Yarboi reflected on the church’s progress, acknowledging the challenges it faced while praising the constant presence of God’s guidance. He shared that the growth of VBCI had not only been spiritual but also focused on addressing the physical and material needs of the members. This holistic approach, he explained, has been key to the church’s long-term success and unity.

Bishop Tackie-Yarboi emphasized that the church’s dual focus on both spiritual and practical needs has been essential in maintaining its vitality. “If you teach people how to go to heaven, but you don’t teach them how to thrive here on earth, it is going to be hard for them,” he said, stressing the importance of nurturing both the soul and the body. According to the bishop, churches that fail to pay attention to the organizational aspects of ministry struggle to thrive, and VBCI’s commitment to a well-structured organization has been a key factor in its ability to serve its members effectively.

The church’s 40th-anniversary celebrations will feature a range of exciting and impactful events throughout the year. These include an international conference with renowned speakers, outdoor crusades, street evangelism, and a large-scale musical concert showcasing gospel artists from both VBCI and other ministries. The church will also engage in several community outreach programs, providing support to local communities through charity initiatives. These will include building infrastructure such as classrooms, boreholes, and the renovation of clinics in areas with VBCI branches.

In addition to the outreach programs, the church is organizing youth-centered events designed to empower young people, helping them realize their potential as future leaders and addressing the challenges they face. These initiatives will provide a platform for the youth to learn about their worth, prepare for leadership roles, and experience a safe environment where their contributions are valued.

The anniversary celebrations will culminate in the “Wonderful Jesus Conference” in October 2025, a week-long international gathering that will bring together members from around the world to celebrate the church’s legacy and reaffirm its mission of raising the foundations for future generations.

Victory Bible Church International has built a legacy of spiritual growth, social impact, and community development under the leadership of Bishop Nii Apiakai Tackie-Yarboi. As the church celebrates its 40th anniversary, it continues to inspire and uplift countless individuals, both in Ghana and beyond, while staying true to its mission of spreading the message of hope, love, and redemption through Christ.
