“EKK Charity Foundation Offers Support to Breast Cancer Patient in Agona Kwanyako.”

Mary Nyanson, a 37-year-old woman from Agona Kwanyako in the Agona East Municipality of the Central Region, has been battling breast cancer for nearly two years. Despite the challenges she faces, she has received a significant lifeline from the EKK Charity Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Kumasi.
Before her diagnosis, Mary was the primary breadwinner for her family, working as a cook and supporting her two children. However, due to her illness, she has been unable to work, leaving her reliant on her single mother, Madam Yaa Afriyie, for support. Tragically, Mary has experienced neglect from both her family and community, deepening her struggles.
A friend in Kumasi, aware of Mary’s situation, made an appeal for help, prompting the EKK Charity Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Evans Kofi Kwafo, to step in. The foundation generously donated GHS 10,000 to cover Mary’s immediate medical expenses.
Madam Yaa Afriyie shared her concerns, stating, “We have been going to the hospital since she was diagnosed, but the situation keeps worsening. Although the doctors haven’t given us a specific surgery date, they have placed her on special treatment, and I pray it will help her recover.” She expressed deep gratitude to the foundation for its support and appealed to others for additional assistance to sustain her daughter’s treatment.
Dr. Evans Kofi Kwafo, CEO of EKK Charity Foundation, explained that the GHS 10,000 donation was just the beginning. “This is for her immediate medical needs. Once the doctors set a date for her surgery and provide the cost, I am ready to cover that as well,” he promised. Furthermore, Dr. Kwafo committed to supporting Mary’s two children, ensuring they receive an education.
The EKK Charity Foundation’s intervention has provided a glimmer of hope for Mary and her family, though they continue to seek further support to navigate this difficult time. Mary herself expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the foundation for their generosity.
