The Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025, organized by the Africa Prosperity Network, is set to address some of the most urgent economic challenges facing the continent. This year’s event, themed “Delivering Africa’s Single Market through Infrastructure: Invest. Connect. Integrate,” will focus on tackling the critical infrastructure gaps that are hindering efficient transport and logistics across Africa.

Mr. Rui Pedro Afonso Livramento, Chief of Staff at the AfCFTA Secretariat, highlighted that while the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has made considerable progress since its inception, infrastructure remains a major barrier, with intra-African trade costs still between 30 and 40%. To overcome this, the AfCFTA Secretariat is pushing for the creation of trade aggregators to help integrate Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) into regional value chains, with Ghana, Egypt, Rwanda, Kenya, and South Africa leading the charge.

Scheduled to take place from January 30 to February 1, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana, the event will bring together more than 3,000 participants from 46 countries, including African heads of state, institutional leaders, industry experts, and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Livramento emphasized that by prioritizing infrastructure development, investment, organizational improvements, enhanced connectivity, and digital innovation, the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025 aims to drive Africa’s economic transformation and further the implementation of the AfCFTA.

Sidig Faroug El Toum, CEO of the APN Secretariat, commended the Ghanaian people for their leadership in pan-Africanism, highlighting their pivotal role in advancing continental unity. He emphasized that the upcoming event will focus on development and infrastructure across Africa, including key projects in Ghana.

El Toum expressed optimism about the potential for significant agreements to be reached during the event, which he believes will bring valuable resources to Ghana and other participating African nations.

“Our goal is to foster a more constructive dialogue that drives policy changes,” he said. “We also seek to recognize and celebrate nations that have already begun adapting their policies to promote greater unity and cooperation across the continent.”
